DEALERS COMPETE TO BUILD COOLEST MONSTER 1100 S

DUCATI DEALERS COMPETE TO BUILD COOLEST MONSTER 1100 S

As the national premiere approaches, Ducati dealers get to work customizing.

Cupertino, CA (10 December 2008) – Ducati North America is pleased to announce a customization contest as part of the forthcoming Ducati Monster 1100 S showroom premiere.

In order to launch the Monster 1100 S to the public in real monster style, Ducati has launched a dealer contest to see who can build the best custom Monster. As the original custom-ready naked bike, the new Monster 1100 S is ready for modifications, and the gloves are coming off in a contest to build the best.

Fifty-eight dealers in the US and Canada have taken delivery of a body panel set in order to begin paintwork on the dealership’s dream Monster; and all have accessories in house waiting to be fitted on the dealership’s first bike. The results promise to be nothing less than spectacular and will launch the Monster with a bang.

The Ducati dealers will have two weeks over the holidays to build their custom; and their bikes will be unveiled to customers over the National Premiere weekend, January 9-10th. The weekend will celebrate the individuality and personal expression inspired by Ducati's original naked bike and highlight the vast potential of the Monster 1100 S.

For a list of participating dealers, and to vote for the coolest custom Monster, please visit www.ducatiusa.com; where the contest will run January 1st through January 13th.

I spoke with Parks and Rec....THEY LOVE US!

It appears that the whole City of SLO is more than welcoming the idea of having the World Monster Record set in their nice and charming town.

Dr. Rushdi Cader, of the local DOC club, visited a few (actually a lot) of potential sites for the event to take place in.

After speaking with the SLO Parks and Rec. we have to now decide where to have it...

The date is September 26th or 27th 2009

CASEY STONER LEAVES HOSPITAL AFTER WRIST OPERATION.

Casey Stoner underwent successful surgery on his wrist on Thursday, at the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Policlinico in Modena. Antonio Landi, Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery, was assisted by arthroscopic specialist Dr Luigi Pederzini and by Dr Norman Della Rosa.

Using arthroscopic surgery, two floating bodies were removed from the area of the styloid process of the ulna bone (lower arm).

Stoner was treated for pseudoarthrosis on his left scaphoid before the removal of a staple (which was inserted in Stonerâ€TMs scaphoid during an operation in 2003), and a bone graft using the Herbert Bone Screw System, which is designed to promote early active motion.

Stoner wanted to give his personal thanks to the medical team and also to Ducati Corseâ€TMs trusted consultant, Prof. Fabio Catani from the Rizzoli Hospital in Bologna, who has provided crucial advice and support over recent months, helping to set up the operation with the team led by Dr Antonio Landi.

The Australian was discharged this afternoon and will begin his rehabilitation over the next few days on his return home to Switzerland.

GP - Valencia

VALENCIA TO PASS THE MOTOGP TORCH FROM 2008 TO 2009

The city of Valencia plays host to the final Grand Prix of the 2008 MotoGP season this Sunday, with the World Championship 'podium' already decided. After seventeen rounds of eighteen around the globe, Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa are already assured of the top three positions in this year's edition of motorcycle racing's elite series.

However, the visit to the Ricardo Tormo circuit promises the usual levels of excitement and intrigue, with one of the largest and most passionate race-day crowds roaring on their favourite riders from the grandstands that surround the entire circuit. Not only that, but the two days following the race have become a traditional first outing for the new team line-ups that will form the grid in the upcoming season.

The first target for the Ducati MotoGP Team, though, is preparing to defend second place in the constructors' championship, which they currently occupy but with only a single-point advantage over Honda.

Both Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri know what it is like to celebrate on top of the podium at Valencia, the Australian having clinched his first win there in the 125cc race in 2003 and the Italian claiming first place in the 250 race in 2002 and in MotoGP in 2005.

LIVIO SUPPO, MotoGP Project Director

"Hopefully we can finish the season at Valencia with a good result that allows us to hang on to second place in the Constructors' Championship. It's a big ask because Dani (Pedrosa) is very strong at this track and he arrives on the back of a very good race, whilst Nicky has always been fast at Valencia and the characteristics of the track should suit the satellite Hondas. We hope Casey's wrist problem isn't as prohibitive here so that he can have a good race for himself and for us! It will also be Marco's last race with us. It would be really nice to finish off a tough season on a high at a circuit where he has already won in MotoGP."

BIMOTA rototype

Rimini October 10th

The Bimota naked bike prototype has been spotted. Its based on the DB7 without fairings. The chasi is identical to the big sisters one...front part is a steel trellis. Also it kept the same rear design of the spory version. The tak is in white plastic...fulll on prototype look.

It has 50mm Mazzocchi forks. Altho at a first glance the engine looks to be the same as the DB7, it would take little effort to mount a depotentiated and remapped Ducati 1098.

RSV4 and BIAGGI in 2009 WSBK

...yep.

On Septenber 20th, Aprilia presented the new RSV 1000 that Biaggi will be riding in the WSBK Chanpionship next year....

Aprilia unvailed in Rome the new RSV4, the supersporty 1000cc 4cilinder 65deg V bike that Biaggi will be riding next year in the World Superbike Championship...The RSV4 will be built in 2 versions: base and Factory.

Power specs are not available yet but the numbers are somewhere around 180 hp at 13,500rev on for the base and Factory version.
The Racing version insted have been released and they sound like this : " engine will be able to run at more than 15,000 revs and develop 220hp!!!

When will we see these on the roads? Well, first of all the price in euros for the "base" version will be around 20k....or 32,000 of our weak dollars...no price for the Factory yet....

When? The WSBK regulations inpose a min. of 1000 Factory bikes to be produced in order to enrole the bike in the championship....250 MUST be out by the first race in February and the remaining 750 by June...so hopefully some of those will end up here in the US for us to admire by the beginning of next summer :)

cheers

...more on Monster 1100 from Ducati

...more from Ducati:

Photobucket

"The arrival of the new 1100 and 1100 S now increases the size of the Monster family, a family that redefines the naked motorcycle and stakes its claim as the new icon of Italian excellence.

The ‘less-is-more’ philosophy behind all Monsters underlines Ducati’s never-ending pursuit of genuinely compact, high performance motorcycles, but these new models have succeeded in being even more ‘pared down’ than their predecessors. The Monster 1100 weighs 169kg (168kg for the S version), making it by far the lightest bike in its category.

The new Monster 1100 design perfectly balances sports performance, riding pleasure and stunning looks. With its new single-sided aluminium swingarm, high level of componentry, race-oriented chassis and 15 years of evolution, the Monster 1100 now takes its place at the head of the Monster family.

The Monster 1100 S is a pure concentrate of lightness, power, design and exclusivity. The ‘S’ features 43mm Öhlins forks and progressive Öhlins rear shock absorber. Carbon fibre cam belt covers, silencer guards and front fender reduce weight by a further 1kg (2.2lb). The distinctive racing gold coloured 5-spoke wheels of the Monster 1100 S give it an elegant style and the same sporting look as historical Ducati racing models.

Both versions of the new Monster 1100, which comes factory-personalised with removable single seat covers and neat micro-bikini fairings, are powered by the charismatic two-valve 1100cc Desmodromic twin-cylinder engine delivering 95hp at 7500rpm and an impressive torque of 10.5kgm (79.5lb-ft) at 6000rpm.
The first public appearance for the Monster 1100 will be at the International Motorcycle Show in Cologne (INTERMOT – Hall 8 ) starting form the 8th October.

The .Monster website will be online soon, revealing more details of the new Monster including photos, technical specifications and multimedia content.

2009 Aprilia WSBK

...i know i know...its not a Ducati but it still is Italian :)

Photobucket

this is the BOMB!!

from the Aprilia website:

"With 31 world championship titles, 250 MotoGP wins and 8 Superbike victories in the last sixteen years, Aprilia is a legend in modern motorcycling. Aprilia motorcycles have dominated circuits all over the world thanks to unconventional technical solutions, experimentation and innovation and, sometimes, by revolutionising technology thought to be unchangeable.
With this unique sporting heritage behind them, Aprilia is proud to present the RSV4, the bike with which Aprilia will return to the Superbike World Championship in 2009. This extraordinary machine has been conceived, designed and developed entirely by Aprilia Racing for competition use.

The RSV4 will make its debut in the 2009 Superbike World Championship. With four cylinders, 999 cc and top of the class power in the race-ready version, this revolutionary machine is packed with innovative design and manufacturing solutions of the sort we have come to expect from Aprilia. A V-four engine with total electronic management, and an exceptionally light and compact chassis are just some of the features that make this bike unique in the world of motorcycling. The revolutionary design of the Aprilia RSV4 comes directly from Europe’s biggest and most successful racing team.

The Aprilia RSV4 is powered by the most revolutionary and most powerful engine ever developed by Aprilia. This 65° V four unit is based on an architecture that is unique in the world of supersport motorcycles, and features refined engineering combined with prestigious materials and advanced electronic management solutions.
The new engine uses multi-mapping ride-by-wire technology, a solution that opens up new horizons in engine control, and offers virtually infinite opportunities for power delivery and traction control (present as standard on the racing version).

The choice of a narrow V layout has led to the development of an incredibly narrow engine. This in turn has permitted weight to be centralised and chassis performance dramatically improved (thanks to a short wheelbase and long swingarm). The narrow V-four configuration permits a longer stroke to be used, with clear benefits in terms of improved engine breathing. High engine speeds can therefore be reached without having to extend the width of the crankcase. This is fundamentally important to aerodynamics and manoeuvrability (two characteristics for which Aprilia motorcycles have always been universally acclaimed)."

...lets see how this goes. Anyways, the bike looks great and i cant wait to seeit in action and to listen to it :)

HAYDEN on DUCATI in 2009

from Ducati Corse:

Monday Sep 15 2008
Bologna, Italy

NICKY HAYDEN TO JOIN CASEY STONER AT DUCATI MARLBORO TEAM

Ducati Corse hereby announces that Nicky Hayden will join its factory MotoGP team for 2009. The 27-year-old from Owensboro, Kentucky, will line up alongside Casey Stoner and will make his debut on the Desmosedici GP9 on the 27th October in a test immediately following the Valencia Grand Prix.

Hayden arrives at Ducati after six years in MotoGP with Honda, the highlight coming in 2006 when he was crowned World Champion. His aggressive riding style and amenable character have made him an extremely popular rider - both on the track and off it.

"We are really happy to have Nicky join us," declared Claudio Domenicali, Ducati Corse CEO and Ducati Motor Holding Product Director. "We are certain that his never-say-die attitude, riding style and character will be great additions to our team in 2009. I would like to thank HRC for allowing Nicky to start testing our bike immediately after the Valencia Grand Prix. I would also like to thank Marco Melandri for his professionalism during a difficult year, which was below all our expectations. Unfortunately his feeling with the Desmosedici was never good enough to allow him to ride as well as he can. We wish him all the best for the future."

also Hayden said at the Dealers meeting in INDY:

"I'm excited about it. It's certainly a great opportunity for me, and a big change. Everyone knows I was with Honda a long time and the company was really good to me, especially on the U.S. side," said Hayden. "But it's time to make a change."

NCR Ducati Champions in Canada!!

September 3, 2008

Press Release: NCR-Ducati, NATIONAL THUNDER CHAMPIONS!!!

Shannonville, Ontario - Wednesday, September 3, 2008:

What more can be said!!! The NCR-Ducati 848 dominated the final round of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship in the Thunder Class. Competing against an overwhelming class of Buell’s, BMW’s, KTM’s and Ducati’s, the NCR-Ducati team finished 1st and 2nd for the fourth time this year. In fact, the NCR-Ducati team has captured every single pole and won every race in the series. In the weight restricted and horsepower restricted series, the Ducati 848 was the perfect weapon of choice and performed flawlessly to capture the National Thunder Championship. Many thanks goes out to the team, NCR, Ducati North America, Poggipolini Titanium and all the fans for their strong support and encouragement throughout the season. Best wishes to Patrick Chartrand for a speedy recovery who crashed while in a solid podium finish position in the Canadian ST Class.
